My 6 STEP PROCESS:

1. Model the high poly in zBrush or Maya,
2. Create a low poly version with proper topology for animation,
3. Unwrap in Maya with clean UVS,
4. Bring both high and low models into Substance Painter for baking and painting,
5. Rig the character in Maya either by using the Human IK or custom rig from scratch,
6. Create all necessary animations.
